31 weeks + Christmas decorating

I hear from lots of people that the Christmas/holiday season is difficult. For me the holidays have always been a mixed bag. Each year as I decorated the tree I would think of how this was supposed to be the year where we had a “baby’s first Christmas ornament”. A lot of holiday cheer is centered around kids and it just hurt to watch commercials or go out in public. At the same time I LOVE the Christmas season! I love decorating. I love the lights. I love the festivity. I want to do all of the Christmas things.

This year is a different experience. Last night we put up the tree and our other decorations. Each year we’ve been together we’ve gotten a reindeer to celebrate the year. We now have quite the collection of different reindeer items. In past years I’m the one who wants to decorate, sometimes Drew participates and sometimes he doesn’t. He is always great about bringing everything up from the basement though. Last night we put the tree up and decorated together. We watched Christmas with the Kranks and had peppermint hot chocolate (normally we’d use peppermint schnapps but…well…pregnant). Afterwards we pulled out all of the baby clothes we’ve been given so far and sorted them into size based totes. At one point we had a lighted tree, baby clothes everywhere, a holiday movie on and yummy hot chocolate. It was peaceful. It was fun to relive all the adorable things Ellie has been given so far. It was what I have always wanted a holiday season to be.

At 31 weeks she is moving around A LOT. I’m getting heartburn a LOT, and the baby bump is finally very noticeable.
